2012 saw an amazing array of astonishing CG renders realized with Blender. And it is a great pleasure for www.BlenderNews.org to present five of them that have been selected by viewers and members of www.BlenderNews.org. Their votes are more meaningful since the majority of registered members of www.BlenderNews.org--about a hundred of them as of December 2012--are people with professional background or with very advanced CG skills. So who are those five winners? What makes their renders so notable? Please read the following announcement.
1. Best Blender Render:
Green Woods

Jason's render was so realistic that a lot of the viewers had ended up accusing him of camera-mapping an actual photo. www.BlenderNews.org had to come to his defense by posting an additional wireframe for his render at the announcement of his nomination for the Render of the Week Award. Jason's render has demonstrated the undiscovered potential of Blender's particle system and was featured as the screenshot for Blender 2.65.

2. Best External Render:
Ctyptocephalus

It's a proud day for Indigo Render. Indigo Render was the external render engine that was used to make Gabriel's "Cryptocephalus" that got an amazing number of votes by viewers and judges of Render of the Year Award.
3. Best Industrial Render:
Bidirectional Interior with Yafaray

For CG artists and studios, Blender is notable only when it can meet professional needs. "Bidirectional Interior with Yafaray" has been a part of a series of test renders by Olivier Boscournu exploring the use of Blender for Arch Viz needs.
His subsequent report based on the result of the tests have demonstrated the competence of Blender without any doubt. Olivier's render could be the most significant render of the year 2012 for artists and studios who need a new tool that is available at hand for their everyday uses. As such, this render has been selected for the Best Industrial Render of the Year 2012.

5. Best Architectural Render:
Loft in Cloister

While the Best Industrial Render of the Year 2012 was awarded to "Bidirectional Interior with Yafaray," the Best Architectural Render of the Year 2012 goes to Enrico Cerica who have consistently released stunning Arch Viz renders by making the best use of Blender and Octane Renderer. Enrico has developed a unique workflow for producing amazing renders by combining several Octane renders for a single arch viz shot. While some might "accuse" him for not sharing his secret with others through a detailed tutorial. It's no valid reason to exclude him from a well-deserved award.
