How, then, can you too qualify for this award? Please have in mind that this award is reserved for those that are on par with or that excel top-notch works published by artists and studios. If such work does not appear during a given week, this award is not being given to anyone. So please submit your best work to www.blenderartist.org or to the Member's Gallery of this site, or Contact Us to show where your work is available on the internet. It doesn't have to be a Blender render, Eevee or Cycles. Any other render engine is fine as long as Blender was used as a part of your workflow.

Artist's Comment
About Me: 
I'm Ilkwon Kim, currently living in a small city in South Korea. My works used to involve mostly archviz both interior and exterior. Now I'm trying various projects all in Blender 100 percent.
 
About "Traces of the Past Old Alley:"
This started off from my curiosity on photo-scanning. Using my smart phone I took pictures of an old alley in my neighborhood and tried to put them together using Meshroom--to my disappointment. I tried taking different sets of photo but to no avail. Then I thought, 'What if I use the photos as a reference.' So the project was started.

I started off modeling the walls and floors using the photos as reference and baked them into textures and edited them in image-processing software. It was easier said than done. I ran into many trials and errors. The aging wall was textured using material Mixer so as to making adjustment easier.

I used an HDRI for overall lighting and used a Sun lamp to add highlight and shadow. I added an area light on the left side of the alley to fix an usually dark spot in the area.

The render setting did not go over 150 samples and I used Denoiser, since the hardware setup used was rather old.
