Not anyone can pull out a work like the above, even if photo-scanned assets and models are all provided.

How, then, can you too qualify for this award? Please have in mind that this award is reserved for those that are on par with or that excel top-notch works published by artists and studios. If such work does not appear during a given week, this award is not being given to anyone. So please submit your best work to www.blenderartist.org or to the Member's Gallery of this site, or Contact Us to show where your work is available on the internet. It doesn't have to be a Blender render, Eevee or Cycles. Any other render engine is fine as long as Blender was used as a part of your workflow

So, it is with great pleasure that www.BlenderNews.org introduces to you the winner of the Render of the Week Award for the week of September 27, 2021: Tom Pleysier.

Artist's Comments
About Me:
Hi my name is Tom Pleysier. I’m a completely self-taught digital artist that mainly works in 3D.
I’ve only used Blender for a year now, crazy I know. But I had experience in the past using 3D software and have adapted that knowledge into Blender.

About "Painters' Beach:"
The idea of it being what It is now actually was a complete accident. I was playing around with a train track asset I made and wanted to make an artwork of a train going though a forest, but it ended up not working out. It kinda looked like a beach, so I ended up going with it.

I made the scene but It felt like something was missing so I drafted up some ideas. Like people getting off a small dock to go fishing, two guys fishing off the coast. But none really stood out to me as being inspiring. So I looked at some paintings online to see if I can grab a concept and then the idea came to me, why not a painting set up as if a painter was just there doing a painting of a boat out at sea, so I ran with that idea.

I feel like the best part of the wide angle version is that it can be 2 things, 1 a nice view looking out at sea, and 2 a interesting story of a painter sitting out in the middle of a beach painting a boat… And it actually surprises people once they see the canvas, they go “Oh wow, a little painting of a boat, where’s the artist”. My answer: “He went to go grab a snack, he will be back soon”

I use the quote “Great art picks up where nature ends.” by Marc Chagall. Not to say its a great piece of artwork, that is up to you if it is or not… But it felt right as the nature we live in ends at a beach, or a coast. Sounded right to me.
