Blender seems to excel in modeling and rendering bugs and insects. Check out the work of this week's winner.

How, then, can you too qualify for this award? Please have in mind that this award is reserved for those that are on par with or that excel top notch works published by artists and studios. If such work does not appear during a given week, this award is not being given to anyone. So please submit your best  work to www.blenderartist.org or to the Member's Gallery of this site, or Contact Us to show where your work is available on the internet. It doesn't have to be a Blender render, internal or Cycles. Any other render engine is fine as long as Blender was used as a part of your workflow.

So, it is with great pleasure that www.BlenderNews.org introduces to you the winner of the Render of the Week Award for the week of October 26, 2015: Yan Blanco.

Artist's Comment
About Me:
My name is Yan Blanco. I live in Brazil, being an illustrator since childhood, and I started tinkering with 3D 1 year ago (2014) at the College of Graphic Design. After college, I began to learn 3D on my own, with tutorials on the Internet, where knowledge is unlimited. The first software I learned was Blender, then I began to delve deeper into Cycles Render. I started learning 3DS Max and Vray as well, but recently I decided to dedicate my time tweaking what I know in Blender.

About "Siesta:"
The project was done in about two full days of work. initially would be to use a new shader in which I was developing, the iridescent material, however, as I was not completely satisfied with this shader, I created a second option, the black hull, that please me more. Thus, the project consists of three images: The black beetle, iridescent beetle, and black beetle with a render simulating an amateur photo with a direct flash in the beetle. The beetle was sculpted in Blender, with a Wacom Intuos tablet. The post production was done in Photoshop, with some techniques learned in the tutorials of 3D artist Gleb Alexandrov.

So that's it, I would like to thank the artists who share the Blender knowledge: Andrew Price, Gleb Alexandrov and Reynante Martinez.and two friends who helped me with tips and constructive criticism on the project, Murilo Semeghini (also 3D artist) and Guilherme Freitas (illustrator).
