Strong skill in traditional art could be a deciding factor that puts you apart from "average" 3D artists. Note the work of this week's winner who started learning Blender--and 3D graphics itself, for that matter--just two years ago. The key? "I have painted all my life," says the 32-year-old artist.
How, then, can you too qualify for this award? Please have in mind that this award is reserved for those that are on par with or that excel top notch works published by artists and studios. If such work does not appear during a given week, this award is not being given to anyone. So please submit your best work to www.blenderartist.org or to the Member's Gallery of this site, or Contact Us to show where your work is available on the internet. It doesn't have to be a Blender render, internal or Cycles. Any other render engine is fine as long as Blender was used as a part of your workflow.

About "Cartoon Street:"
For this project I was inspired by Manhattan. I wanted make a typical old street of this city, with Victorian style buildings, because New York has a lot of wonderful brownstones. And it had to be an idyllic place but keeping the urban atmosphere. As to the style, I chose a soft cartoon style but with a very realistic textures and materials. The result is a mix of this two styles. The lighting is of a sunny morning, with only one lamp (Sun) and 0.2 Ambient Occlusion factor.
