An interesting phenomenon is taking place with the phenomenal improvements of Blender: A few "hobbyists" and pre-college young people have been developing amazing 3D skills that were once considered impossible among such "groups," whose quality of work already surpassing "some" in the professional market. Although the winner for this week humbly considers himself a 'hobbyist,' he has been confirmed as a winner, since he is available as a freelancer and have previous industry experience. (From this week onward, the winners of the Render of the Week will be eligible for a free one year subscription for BlenderNews.org's Member Portfolio - Advanced Editon.)

How, then, can you too qualify for this award? Please have in mind that this award is reserved for those that are on par with or that excel top notch works published by artists and studios. If such work does not appear during a given week, this award is not being given to anyone. So please submit your best  work to www.blenderartist.org or to the Member's Gallery of this site, or Contact Us to show where your work is available on the internet. It doesn't have to be a Blender render, internal or Cycles. A Vray render or any other render is fine as long as Blender was used as a part of your workflow.

Artist's Comment
About Me: 
My name is Rafal Sietnik, I live in Wroclaw in southern of Poland. Profesionally I'm an IT specialist and 3D graphics is just one of my hobbies. Once for a while, when I have some free time, usually late in the evening I start Blender and spend few hours trying to make something creative, at least I hope so.

About "Indian Raider:"
When new Blender 2.66 came out with the dynamic topology feature I decided to spend some time to improve my sculpting skills. First I've made some busts and because it was quite good fun I decided to made something different, my choice was to sculpt a horse and when I did it, I decided to add some ground, then a horsemen and finally some background and after 4-5 evenings I have ended up with the scene you can see on the rendering. I have always loved stories, books and movies about Indians so I think it subconsciously influenced my work this time. The background is composed from my older models to make the scene a little more realistic. This rendering was made using Cycles of course with samples set to 5k.
