An interesting phenomena has been observed among some of the candidates for the Render of the Week Awards. These are established professionals who took on Blender as a "DIY tool" for their projects. Combined with their rich knowledge coming from their non-3D-professional backgrounds, their newly-acquired 3D skills are helping them realize their goals! And this week's winner seems to be one of them.

How, then, can you too qualify for this award? Please have in mind that this award is reserved for those that are on par with or that excel top notch works published by artists and studios. If such work does not appear during a given week, this award is not being given to anyone. So please submit your best  work to www.blenderartist.org or to the Member's Gallery of this site, or Contact Us to show where your work is available on the internet. It doesn't have to be a Blender render, internal or Cycles. Any other render engine is fine as long as Blender was used as a part of your workflow.

So, it is with great pleasure that www.BlenderNews.org introduces to you  the winner of the Render of the Week Award for the week of October 27, 2014: Robert Welling.

Artist's Comments
About Me:
My name is Robert Welling.  I've been learning Blender for about a year now. Previously I used Sketch-up. I'm a residential remodeling contractor and got into 3D modeling and rendering as a way to do designs and plans for projects, and to present my designs to potential clients. I found I enjoy the modeling and rendering so much I also do it a lot in my spare time. 

About "Hunter's Cabin:"
The inspiration was from the final tutorial of the Architecture Academy.  It was done in v.2.70. I modeled and textured the cabin, deer skull, rocks,shotgun, and wood pile. The trees, bushes, oil lamp and boots are assets from The Architecture Academy. The grass, weeds, and pine cones are particle systems. And the ivy was modeled using the IvyGenerator. It was rendered in Cycle with some minor post-pro in PS.
