As announced, this award is reserved for those that are on par with or that excel top notch works published by artists and studios. If such work does not appear during a given week, this award is not being given to anyone.
What about some of the excellent renders that have drawn attention last week and before? Here's some of the reasons why some of them fell short of winning the award:
1. An ultra-photorealistic render could be perfect for showcasing the capability of a renderer, but it may not necessarily reflect extra-ordinary skills of the artist.2. The artist does not have contact info. for English-speaking audience. (It's an absurd reason for "disqualification" but it does happen!)3. It's a fan art. (Copying someone else's 3D work is a worst senario for being a candidate for Render of the Week Award.)4. It's a dime a dozen among professionals. (We are looking for a top-notch work.)5. The candidate failed to provide convinding proof of creating the work in Blender. (The candidates are being contacted by www.BlenderNews.org for screenshots and textures for the work.)6. The candidate does not have a portfolio or other works that helps to prove his/her continued competence.7. The artist has been nominated before. (Once an artist gets nominated, only newer renders of his/her will be [a] candidate[s].)
In addition to newer renders, there could be some other excellent renders that had been posted in the past and just waiting to be discovered, you can help www.BlenderNews.org to locate them by contacting us or by any other way at your disposal.
And please submit your top-notch work to www.blenderartist.org or to the Member's Gallery of this site, or Contact Us to show where your work is available on the internet. It doesn't have to be a Blender render, internal or Cycles. A Vray render or any other render is fine as long as Blender was used as a part of your workflow.
