What exactly inspired me to make an old engine, I don’t remember, but for some reason, I decided to do a search on old engines and chose a simple design. It was the Fairbanks Morse “Y” Oil Engine - Style “H”. Of course, the picture was lacking in details, and making an intricate model wasn’t really my goal at the beginning, but as I progressed, I decided to take a closer look at the engine, and it turned out, that there were much more to it than that picture had me believe. So, I kept adding more and more details, and I even went back to change up already finished parts. Unfortunately, I couldn’t find a blueprint, so the only way to get the info for the model was to look at every picture and video that I could find, and try to figure it out. For this reason, the model is not 100% accurate, and it’s a bit disproportionate, but the end result was still satisfying for me. For the lighting, I used a studio HDRI. For some shots, where it wasn’t enough, I added a sun lamp to emphasize certain details.
