Seasoned artists coming from other tools apparently have discovered interesting advantages of Blender over other tools. Check out what one of them discovered.

How, then, can you too qualify for this award? Please have in mind that this award is reserved for those that are on par with or that excel top notch works published by artists and studios. If such work does not appear during a given week, this award is not being given to anyone. So please submit your best  work to www.blenderartist.org or to the Member's Gallery of this site, or Contact Us to show where your work is available on the internet. It doesn't have to be a Blender render, internal or Cycles. Any other render engine is fine as long as Blender was used as a part of your workflow.

So, it is with great pleasure that www.BlenderNews.org introduces to you the returning winner of the Render of the Week Award for the week of March 21, 2016Jan Walter Schliep.

Artist's Comment
About Me:
My name is Jan Walter Schliep, a 44-year-old living in Germany. I am working in the fields of 3D graphics for a "few" years now. Currently, I am working as a member of the Laubwerk team. Most of the time, I am working with in-house tools and Cinema4D, but privately I started to use Blender.

About "Dunes:"
I wanted to create a coastal scenery, inspired by the dune (grasses) you often can find at the Baltic sea. Also I wanted to do my first Blender outdoor scene to see, how far I can get. I already did many exteriors in Cinema4D and it was interesting to see how well Blender worked on that project.
I especially like the possibility to do at last some of the compositing steps directly in Blender, without the need to use an extra application.
I didn't have much time, so the project grew from day to day, a few minutes here, a few minutes there and at some point I simply decided to declare this project as finished. Not sure if it is, but at some point I am looking forward to the next project.
