Bullet physics & Cycles hairs are among the new features that were just added to the latest Blender 2.66. And this week's winner has put them to a good test. Although quite simple, his render shows what Blender can easily do in a trained artist's hand.

How, then, can you too qualify for this award? Please have in mind that this award is reserved for those that are on par with or that excel top notch works published by artists and studios. If such work does not appear during a given week, this award is not being given to anyone. So please submit your best  work to www.blenderartist.org or to the Member's Gallery of this site, or Contact Us to show where your work is available on the internet. It doesn't have to be a Blender render, internal or Cycles. A Vray render or any other render is fine as long as Blender was used as a part of your workflow.

So, it is with great pleasure that www.BlenderNews.org introduces to you  the winner of the Render of the Week Award for the week of March 15, 2013: Luciano A. Muñoz Sessarego.

Artist's Comment
About Me:
I'm a character animator of a small studio called Estudio Pintamonos (www.estudiopintamonos.cl) in Santiago, Chile, where we focus mostly on CG characters.

I discovered Blender years ago but never took advantage of it, because studying 3D in any software is really hard. So, through scholarships I was able to go to VFS in Canada to study character animation, after that i started working in advertising. And later on in Bulgaria, I found a small but really awesome training on Blender at TOSMI, where I got to really appreciate Blender, and actually started using it a lot (mostly for modeling at the time), after that I kept on going with more work and training. I went to the animation workshop in Denmark as well for more character animation, and I actually took the courses in TOSMI three times because there was so much to learn and it was so much fun.

About "Casino:"
Frankly, although I work a lot in Blender, using on a daily basis, I've never been good at modeling or lighting. So, that's how this project was started as a self-training. I did one other more complex scene prior to this. It didn't came out as well, but it taught me a lot. This one was much simpler in terms of elements and I referenced a picture to do it as a starting point which made it shine and helped me out a lot, I think the most difficult thing was the hair, but then again challenges are what make you learn.
