Learning a new tool takes times and, as such, is an "investment" in itself. Will you regret taking time to learn Blender for your needs? Imagine what the winner for this week must have felt.
How, then, can you too qualify for this award? Please have in mind that this award is reserved for those that are on par with or that excel top notch works published by artists and studios. If such work does not appear during a given week, this award is not being given to anyone. So please submit your best work to www.blenderartist.org or to the Member's Gallery of this site, or Contact Us to show where your work is available on the internet. It doesn't have to be a Blender render, internal or Cycles. Any other render engine is fine as long as Blender was used as a part of your workflow.

About Me:
My name is Niko Maisuradze. I'm a 27-year-old Georgian freelancer living in Tbilisi, Georgia. I've been working in VFX field for more than 8 years. I haven't used Blender in my work until recently. When I discovered Blender, I saw a good potential and started to learn it. This particular project is my first "big" project done completely in Blender.
About "Rainy Day in the Forest:"
The Idea came to me when I was at a hiking tour in a mountain forest. I thought it would be interesting to try recreating moss after rain in CG. I chose to use Blender basically because--as I was already learning it for some time--making this project in Blender could help me learn Blender much faster. It was great working in Blender and Cycles on this project. I had no idea that interactive rendering with this much detail would be so fast in Cycles.
