When asked, if he has had any prior experience in using 3D software package other than Blender, the winner for this week replied in a thread: "I go some experience in 3ds Max while studying at university." Check out what he was able to recreate after 8 years of using Blender.
How, then, can you too qualify for this award? Please have in mind that this award is reserved for those that are on par with or that excel top notch works published by artists and studios. If such work does not appear during a given week, this award is not being given to anyone. So please submit your best work to www.blenderartist.org or to the Member's Gallery of this site, or Contact Us to show where your work is available on the internet. It doesn't have to be a Blender render, internal or Cycles. Any other render engine is fine as long as Blender was used as a part of your workflow.

About Me:
My name is Roman Volkov. I'm a technical education coordinator at PortaOne. My duties are to create and conduct free courses on Linux & network administration, nearly all LAMP stack, VoIP technologies, Perl and so on. Also I administer a small educational installation with up to 30 VMs.
Currently CG is my hobby. As I had been working with Linux for a long time a choice of 3D tool was obvious. Of course it was Blender.
My first attempts in Blender took place nearly 8 years ago. It was low-poly models for simple self-made interactive games (not in BGE, it was C++ & OpenGL projects used for educational purposes). After that I was interested in getting skills in a high-poly modelling. There were many projects since that time and one of the recent is "Geely Emgrand EC7 RV".
About "Geely Emgrand EC7 RV:"
Emgrand is a Geely's sub-brand initially dedicated for Europe market. ЕС7 (or simply 7) - class D vehicle RV means hatchback. Current model is of model year 2013.
The model was completely made in Blender and rendered with Cycles. For some renders, 'Filmic Blender' was used. Each render was post processed (an adjustment of brightness/contrast, playing with color curves, removing rendering artifacts, etc) Some textures are procedural and some are image-based. For creating image-based textures I used Gimp and Inkscape.
