It seems that the Cycles render engine has opened up a whole new world of unexplored CGI shaders for a few select seasoned CG artists, among whom is the winner for this week.

How, then, can you too qualify for this award? Please have in mind that this award is reserved for those that are on par with or that excel top notch works published by artists and studios. If such work does not appear during a given week, this award is not being given to anyone. So please submit your best  work to www.blenderartist.org or to the Member's Gallery of this site, or Contact Us to show where your work is available on the internet. It doesn't have to be a Blender render, internal or Cycles. Any other render engine is fine as long as Blender was used as a part of your workflow.

So, it is with great pleasure that www.BlenderNews.org introduces to you the second-time winner of the Render of the Week Award for the week of November 23, 2015: Ivaylo Gogov.

Title: "Crystals Inspiration"

About Me:
My name is Ivaylo Gogov, I'm 32 years old, I work as CG Generalist and UX Developer. I’ve been working in the CG industry for more than 10 years. Great to share with you that I’ve been part of Blender community for over 2 years. I love the everyday learning process, to create and digitally experiment a lot! As the happy father, currently I live in Sofia, Bulgaria.

About "Crystals Inspiration:"
In 2006, I’ve worked in USA, during which period I had the change to visit Washington Museum of Natural History in Washington DC where I was amazed by the beauty of natural crystals. They had an amazing collection of crystals, asteroids and other unique types of natural forms. I spend 4 hours in the section of Crystals watching them. The impression of those unique organic gems (forms) made me think a lot about creation, as a process … as an act.
Until now I haven’t a clear idea what I was looking for exactly, but I collected materials, images and information etc.
In my work I use Blender a lot,... as pipeline of my production workflow, so I decided to experiment with Cycles Render Engine and to see how close I can get to the realism and understanding of crystal materials into a node based study experiment. This is a personal project mostly realized in my free time.
Enjoy!
