Blender would be a perfect choice for many competent 3D Generalist such as the winner for this week. Check out his story.
How, then, can you too qualify for this award? Please have in mind that this award is reserved for those that are on par with or that excel top-notch works published by artists and studios. If such work does not appear during a given week, this award is not being given to anyone. So please submit your best work to www.blenderartist.org or to the Member's Gallery of this site, or Contact Us to show where your work is available on the internet. It doesn't have to be a Blender render, internal or Cycles. Any other render engine is fine as long as Blender was used as a part of your workflow.
So, it is with great pleasure that www.BlenderNews.org introduces to you the winner of the Render of the Week Award for the week of August 24, 2020: Oli Timéro.

About Me:
I am Oli, a CG generalist based in Paris. Although I love making still images for practicing 3D techniques, my main objective and passion is to make movies, both 3D animated or filmed with VFX.
After finishing the rendering of the “Advanced Guiding Unit”, I started shooting my first short movie, currently in post-production stage. All the VFX of this short will be done with Blender, by far my favorite 3D software for its intuitive and straightforward workflow.
About "Advanced Guiding Unit:"
Advanced Guiding Unit is a personal project I made to practice hard-surface modeling techniques.
I started sculpting several rough concepts until I found a shape I like. I then retopoed it to get a clean primitive shape and modeled further to get secondary shapes, using Blender's efficient modeling tools. I tried to keep at this stage a clean topology as much as possible using subdiv techniques. I finally added the tertiary details using Booleans operations.
This workflow is brilliantly explained by talented Gleb Alexandrov and Aidy Burrows in their Hard Surface Modeling tutorial.
