Artist's Comment
About Me:
I'm a 27-year-old engineer from Finland. Well, I'm not an engineer in the traditional sense. I studied Media Engineering in Jyväskylä University of Applied Sciences and it resulted in Bachelor's degree in 2012. While studying, I started internship in an advertising agency called Mediataivas, where I now work as a full-time media designer. I use Blender in various different projects almost daily and it just keeps coping with my workflow like a charm.
I've been using Blender for about 10 years. First time I installed it was when I did in on our family computer from a shareware disk that came with a computer magazine, somewhere early in 2000 I think. At the time we didn't even have internet, so learning a new software without any support material was quite a rocky path. Since then I've been stubbornly self learning Blender. The internet, countless tutorials, videos, etc. have surely made the road much less rocky.

About "Action Veteran:"
I love 3D because it's not limited by anything other than your own creativity and I often like to just throw abstract ideas straight from my head to polygons. That being said, there is something very soothing and almost therapeutic in recreating detailed real world objects in 3D, plus you always learn something new when gathering reference material. Perfect pass-time activity if you ask me.
I had no specific reason or motive for this work, I just wanted to freshen/test my modelling skills by recreating a realistic weapon model. The choice was quite easy, to me the 1911 in all its variations, has always been the most iconic handgun when it comes to movies, comics and games.
