"Is Blender killing Lightwave, C4d, Modo etc.?" asked an artist at a forum thread of a popular CG site. Regardless of the validity of the question, apparently it led to a serious discussion among a group of seasoned professionals. Blender obviously gaining more and more attention and respect and well-deservedly so, thanks to Blender devs and talented artists who have successfully showcased Blender. And this week's winner is one of them.
How, then, can you too qualify for this award? Please have in mind that this award is reserved for those that are on par with or that excel top notch works published by artists and studios. If such work does not appear during a given week, this award is not being given to anyone. So please submit your best work to www.blenderartist.org or to the Member's Gallery of this site, or Contact Us to show where your work is available on the internet. It doesn't have to be a Blender render, internal or Cycles. A Vray render or any other render is fine as long as Blender was used as a part of your workflow.
So, it is with great pleasure that www.BlenderNews.org introduces to you the winner of the Render of the Week Award for the week of June 3, Pratik Solanki.

About Me:
I am Pratik Solanki , from India and I am working as an animation director at Vivify Animation Studio. have been in this field from last 6-7 years, and it's really kinda fun job.. I hope you like my artworks and animations.
About "Astro:"
This image was rendered in cycles and it took 4-6 hours to render under 1000 samples and it has lots of hair systems for each part of body. Actually I was kinda thinking of making this in Blender Internal, as I was planning to release an animation, but for the time being I tried Cycles and it gives very good results but sad thing is, with this much render time, I cannot render an animation with it. But anyway, I hope you like my virtual pet.
