Considering the release of Blender 2.66 featuring Cycles hair renderer, it may not be a coincidence that recent top-notch renders are those of characters with hairs. Apparently such renders have invited other talented "hair" artists to share their works made in Blender with other render engines.

How, then, can you too qualify for this award? Please have in mind that this award is reserved for those that are on par with or that excel top notch works published by artists and studios. If such work does not appear during a given week, this award is not being given to anyone. So please submit your best  work to www.blenderartist.org or to the Member's Gallery of this site, or Contact Us to show where your work is available on the internet. It doesn't have to be a Blender render, internal or Cycles. A Vray render or any other render is fine as long as Blender was used as a part of your workflow.

So, it is with great pleasure that www.BlenderNews.org introduces to you  the winner of the Render of the Week Award for the week of March 4, 2013: Andrzej Augustyniak.

Title: "XVIII Century Portrait"
Genre: Character Modeling
Renderer: Blender Internal & 3Delight

Artist's Comment
About Me:
My name is Andrzej Augustyniak. I'm freelancer 3d artist open for commission and part time/full time job. My adventure with CG started in 2001 when I wanted to make my own Quake 3 game model - I've started learning 3D Studio Max 4. After few years I'd decide to make my living from my hobby and because I couldn't afford Autodesk software I stared learning Blender (mostly thanks to Elephants dream - it showed me that the tool isn't as important as the artist is). Since than I do almost all of my work in blender - 90% of the staff you can find on my website is made only in Blender (the one exception is my old demoreel from 2010)

About "XVIII Century Portrait:"
The project stared as another sculpt doodle but after finishing it I started to play a little with 3delight for Blender (especially hair rendering) - that's how he got the beard. At then I was sure what kind of style I wanted - late XVIII century US (based on great tv show Deadwood). I wanted to add some personality to him (a little bit evil but without the cliches). I hope you like it.
