The winner for the last year's Render of the Year Award in the category of concept art is back! But this time with a complete video sequence made on his own!

How, then, can you too qualify for this award? Please have in mind that this award is reserved for those that are on par with or that excel top-notch works published by artists and studios. If such work does not appear during a given week, this award is not being given to anyone. So please submit your best work to www.blenderartist.org or to the Member's Gallery of this site, or Contact Us to show where your work is available on the internet. It doesn't have to be a Blender render, internal or Cycles. Any other render engine is fine as long as Blender was used as a part of your workflow

So, it is with great pleasure that www.BlenderNews.org introduces to you the winner of the Render of the Week Award for the week of March 23, 2020: Rasmus Poulsen.

Title: "Escape!"
Genre: VFX
Renderer: Cycles

Artist's Comment
About Me:
I'm a Danish designer working as a Franchise Art Director in the AAA games industry. I studied Visual Communication and Production Design at the Royal Danish Academy of Fine Arts - School of Design, and have over 20 years of experience ranging from doing night club flyers, to being a studio Art Director overseeing several projects. In my spare time I like to practice my craft of concept art, especially in the area of speculative technical design.

About "Escape!:"
This is a Star Wars themed sequence where I have reused some design I had done previously. The focus is on getting as much energy from a simple flyby as possible. With a few planet elements forming a backdrop. An interesting note on the sequence it how fast the basic setup is. It is really simple, not to scale at all and only looks good from the perspective of the camera. Obviously this makes the scene less versatile, but it shows the strength of not being hung up on details that the camera won’t see.
