What would you look for in a top-notch artist? A consistent record of previous quality works that prove your competence in various aspects of your trade. A simple and amazing render could be a result of a happy "accident"--or that of years of experience. The candidates of Render of the Week Awards, therefore, are re-evaluated also by their previous works.

How, then, can you too qualify for this award? Please have in mind that this award is reserved for those that are on par with or that excel top notch works published by artists and studios. If such work does not appear during a given week, this award is not being given to anyone. So please submit your best  work to www.blenderartist.org or to the Member's Gallery of this site, or Contact Us to show where your work is available on the internet. It doesn't have to be a Blender render, internal or Cycles. A Vray render or any other render is fine as long as Blender was used as a part of your workflow.

So, it is with great pleasure that www.BlenderNews.org introduces to you  the winner of the Render of the Week Award for the week of April 27, Vadim Andreyev.

Artist's Comment
About Me:
My name is Vadim Andreyev. I live in Murmansk, Russia. I'm 29 years old. Now I'm all for sculpt, but my machine is very old so I've decided to make another simple exterior scene.

About "Backyard Demons:"
In this work I wanted to show that there is many things in our life that can't be seen unless you look closely. This work is rather simple to be rendered fast on my slow computer. Yes, it is a bunch of arrayed and instanced objects. Demons and trees are low-poly objects. Cycles sure is a pain without CUDA, but I needed less than 12 hours to render it - not so bad. Mainly because I've used just diffuse materials, only trashcans and windows use simple glossy shaders. Plain diffuse materials keep scene clean and less noisy and cuts the render time significantly. I've used sun lamp and sky world texture for the lightning - it's simple and looks like you expect it to look.
