Looking at the works of this week's winner makes Eevee a good candidate for serious animation projects. Check out the winner's story who's at a leading edge in using Blender Eevee for human animation.

How, then, can you too qualify for this award? Please have in mind that this award is reserved for those that are on par with or that excel top-notch works published by artists and studios. If such work does not appear during a given week, this award is not being given to anyone. So please submit your best work to www.blenderartist.org or to the Member's Gallery of this site, or Contact Us to show where your work is available on the internet. It doesn't have to be a Blender render, Eevee or Cycles. Any other render engine is fine as long as Blender was used as a part of your workflow

So, it is with great pleasure that www.BlenderNews.org introduces to you the winner of the Render of the Week Award for the week of August 2, 2020: Mania Carta.

Title: Project Code VTR
Genre: Character Art
Renderer: Eevee

Artist's Comments
About Me:
Hello everyone, this is Mania Carta from Tokyo. I am an artist using Blender for almost a year and half, and it became my main tool production to make anything from concept character to cinematic visual production for personal works or for clients.

About "Project Soya Lankastar:"

I always planned to create the final witch for my story I am making and in the final it was Soya, she is the last witch of linerma and elder sister of Luna Lankastar who are going to destroy Enix the god of chaos with the help of all other witches.

Now who is this Enix and why he want to destroy Linerma, this you can wait for it as it’s coming soon. :)

The project started by exploring Reallusion product especially Character Creator, now I can make anything from scratch if I want but I wanted to explore fast character creation but also
in real-time.

So I started by using character creator as base but then it didn’t really fit my taste as I wanted something more fantasy look and that have more expression and soul, so I decided to keep the base model but to recreate everything from scratch.

The only thing I was focusing on is the character visual I wanted to be realistic that have soul but also in real-time, so I combined the power of Reallusion character creator, Code VTR the real-time skin development I made and Blender for final production.

The shader node inside Blender was a bit heavy but now after this final research I can make any character that came in my mind very easy and fast but mostly in real-time.

I also got request from Reallusion company to make tutorial for them on how I made such character after they saw soya.

At first I shared them these images I am sharing it was the base model of Soya Lankastar that I create but it was changed completely thereafter.

Blender for me is a real beast tool especially with add-ons. I have never seen any other 3D software’s doing that seriously. That’s why it shines always. I only wish that the performance especially for animation and rigging can be improved when making high quality real-time characters such as in Unreal Engine.
