It's interesting to hear about what background some of the best Blender artists are coming from, as was the case for this week's winner.

How, then, can you too qualify for this award? Please have in mind that this award is reserved for those that are on par with or that excel top-notch works published by artists and studios. If such work does not appear during a given week, this award is not being given to anyone. So please submit your best work to www.blenderartist.org or to the Member's Gallery of this site, or Contact Us to show where your work is available on the internet. It doesn't have to be a Blender render, internal or Cycles. Any other render engine is fine as long as Blender was used as a part of your workflow.

Artist's Comments
About Me: 
My name is Juan Hernández, I was born in Venezuela but I am currently living in the Czech Republic. I worked with motion graphics in After Effects for 2 years
and in 2018 switched to Blender, where I got interested in the 3D world. I am now working as a CG generalist in Prague.

About "Uruk Hai Soldier:"
This is one of the personal projects I make to push myself forward in Blender. Even though it was inspired by LOTR characters, I didn´t stick 100% to the original designs, the biggest difference would be the reptile-like skin, which I just personally liked and took as an artistic choice. I like giving my illustrations some ¨story¨ in the details, in this case, I wanted to show this character has seen a lot of fights. I sculpted the model in Blender and made some hand painted textures for the color variation of the skin, also for the side-burn in the right side (from his view) of the jaw.

In one of the images you can see the various renders I did even when I knew it was not finished, it is usually something I do so I can focus on details and
point out what things I can improve.
