A notable phenomenon has been noticed by www.BlenderNews.org, while contacting potential nominees for the Render of the Week Award or artists for 'Product Visualization in Blender' series. Some of the creators of amazing or professional quality renders turned out to be young people still in high school! It turned out that this is not an isolated incident. Should they and their works be dismissed, since the Render of the Week Award or the 'Product Visualization in Blender' series or is for adults who can "afford" to work as freelancers and studios?
Recently some of them have been introduced in an article entitled "Blender Whiz." It has been decided that "Blender Whiz." will be featured as a series, whenever such talented young artists are discovered. Studios and directors, keep your eyes on these young talents as your potential future employees!
So, it is with great pleasure that www.BlenderNews.org introduces to you Roberto Dailey for his work "Battlecruiser Emerging from the Clouds." Roberto is yet to become a senior in high school.

Title: "Battlecruiser Emerging from the Clouds"
Genre: Concept Art

Interview with Roberto:

Hi, Roberto. Would you like to introduce yourself?:
Hello, my name is Roberto Dailey, I'm going to be a senior in high school, and I've been using Blender for almost two years now. I originally tried Blender just for kicks, but I grew to love it, and it has become extremely helpful to my robotics team for rendering CAD and solidworks files.
Still a high school student? Amazing! Where do you live?
Texas, US.
How did you find Blender and how did you learn it?
I originally started out with a program called Anim8or, which I had learned taking a class at a local community college class. I loved Anim8or, but I was always troubled that it had no particle generator, so I looked around online and I came upon Blender. I used Blender off and on for a while until Cycles merged with trunk. After that I spent a good deal of time just absorbing tutorials as well as trying to understand the science of rendering realistic images. (My last science fair project was measuring light interaction with materials and inputting that data into cycles materials)
Any comment about your render "Battlecruiser Emerging from the Clouds?"
This battlecruiser has become my summer project, and I am currently animating it, hoping to get at least one decent animation in before my senior year of high school. The battlecruiser was rendered in Cycles to 50 passes, and the clouds were rendered with the smoke simulator.
What's your plan for your future after high school?
While I do not plan to go directly into the digital art field after high school, I do not plan to stop or slow down with Blender. I have had numerous times where Blender was an invaluable tool in both school projects and engineering projects (my robotics instructor was blown away when I rendered CAD files of our robot with cycles). I have no doubt that, regardless of the fact I picked up Blender for fun, it will become an invaluable tool for my future.
Thank you Roberto for responding to this interview!
