Actually it is safe to say that it is the artist that makes a tool look "stand apart." Check out what Blender was able to do in the hand of a seasoned VFX artist.

How, then, can you too qualify for this award? Please have in mind that this award is reserved for those that are on par with or that excel top-notch works published by artists and studios. If such work does not appear during a given week, this award is not being given to anyone. So please submit your best work to www.blenderartist.org or to the Member's Gallery of this site, or Contact Us to show where your work is available on the internet. It doesn't have to be a Blender render, internal or Cycles. Any other render engine is fine as long as Blender was used as a part of your workflow.

So, it is with great pleasure that www.BlenderNews.org introduces to you the winner of the Render of the Week Award for the week of August 17, 2020: Pranjal Choudhary.

Artist's Comment
About Me:
I have worked professionally as a Digital Compositor on feature films like Gravity, Total Recall, Resident Evil, and commercials for over 10 years. Another fulfilling experience has been
teaching compositing at Pluralsight. Problem-solving is a quality that I take pride in. Often times I like to develop tools that increase efficiency in day to day Nuke workflow and also
like to dabble a bit into 3D with Blender. Playing the guitar has helped me retain my sanity in this crazy visual effects universe.

About "The Forgotten:"
The idea behind this piece is telling a story through this Lion sculpture which represents a king which once ruled over the jungle but now is on the verge of extinction. So I wanted to put this lion sculpture in an enclosed space with a strong volume of light coming in through the gap and falling on the sculpture.

The Megascan library got updated with the Limestone Quarry assets. Apparently same ones used in the demo. I was able to quickly export those assets and rebuild the shaders using
the Quixel Bridge and Blender Link. Used 8K textures on the rocks with normals and displacement.

Sourced the very detailed Lion 3D model from MyMiniFactory. It has a fantastic collection of 3D scanned data.
