"How can he fail you for being smarter than he is?" This is a line from the famous disaster movie The Day After Tommorrow. Apparently, the winner for this week had to undergo similar situation due to his incredible render. As such, www.BlenderNews.org had to double-check that his render is not a camera-mapped scene.

Some notalbe works appeared among recent entries for Blenderguru Competition: Photorealism. In order to avoid "disrupting" the judgement process, however, such entries have been excluded from the candidates for the Render of the Week Award, for the time being.

How, then, can you too qualify for this award? Please remember that this award is reserved for those that are on par with or that excel top notch works published by artists and studios. So please submit your top notch work to www.blenderartist.org or to the Member's Gallery of this site, or Contact Us to show where your work is available on the internet. It doesn't have to be a Blender render, internal or Cycles. A Vray render or any other render is fine as long as Blender was used as a part of your workflow.

So, it is with great pleasure that www.BlenderNews.org introduces to you the winner of the Render of the Week Award for the week of July 23, 2012: Jason Reynolds.

Title: "Green Woods"
Genre: Environment Design
Renderer: Cycles

Artist's Comments:
About Me:
My name is Jason Reynolds. I grew up in the US but I'm living in Germany now. I've been practicing with Blender for around 6 years, ever since I was 16. I usually like doing character modeling instead of full scenes like this one, but I like to change things around a bit. As a full time career, I've been working on becoming a network admin. I'm available as a freelancer as well. If interested, you can contact me through my email: jayjonas5445@gmail.com.

About "Green Woods":
I was playing around with Blender's particle instancing and noticed that it would eat very little ram. With that, I decided to make a scene using a very high amount of detail. Dealing with so much geometry at once was surprisingly manageable and I will definitely be making use of particles more often.
