Check out how a long-time game industry veteran has come to choose Blender as his favorite modeling package over others.

How, then, can you too qualify for this award? Please have in mind that this award is reserved for those that are on par with or that excel top-notch works published by artists and studios. If such work does not appear during a given week, this award is not being given to anyone. So please submit your best work to www.blenderartist.org or to the Member's Gallery of this site, or Contact Us to show where your work is available on the internet. It doesn't have to be a Blender render, internal or Cycles. Any other render engine is fine as long as Blender was used as a part of your workflow.

So, it is with great pleasure that www.BlenderNews.org introduces to you the winner of the Render of the Week Award for the week of April 27, 2020: Michael Weisheim.

Artist's Comments
About Me:
I'm Michael Weisheim a Russian-German character artist. Half of my live I was living in Russia and a half in Germany till now. For around 12 years I was studying game design in Berlin where I also learned 3D as a tool to create art and since then it has been my job and my hobby as well.
I was working in a couple of game development companies here in Germany for about 12 years in total. Last 6 years I was working as character artist at Ubisoft Germany (Düsseldorf). Since 1 year ago, I’m on parental leave and work as a freelancer in the moment.

I started with 3dsmax, then switched to other apps like Zbrush, Nvil, Silo for modelling.
In 2018 I was looking for an alternative 3D modelling package which would be near to Nvil/Silo modelling speed, but have the ability to handle more polygons in the view port. I tried
Blender 2.79 and since then I completely switched to Blender and I'm very happy about it. It far exceeded my expectations, because in the addition to modeling speed it was amazingly customizable with all nice plugins such “pie menu editor” and other great add-ons like "mesh and decal machine " which improves modelling a lot. I also create game-ready characters
where I use Blender to create rigs/skeletons for export to Unreal and Unity.
Blender is amazing, thank you all developer for this!

About "Characters:"
As I was posting characters, I had the idea to post all of my characters I made in Blender in a single thread. (That’s why i called it " Characters.") But then I noticed that other artists
post mostly one or few pictures per post and I skipped the idea and posted only one character. But I kept the name unfortunately. I called this artwork “Space Marine” on Artstation,
but I think “Space Engineer” is maybe a better description.

This is a space engineer suit suited to pilots and copilots. It covers/protects from extraterrestrial radiation and damages by using carbon-kevlar composite protection.
It also gives the ability to make short distance jumps over rough terrain by using integrated jet-pack system.
