Is Blender a Do-It-Yourself 3D/VFX kit? Some seems to think so, attempting to create music videos and animations on their own. The quality of most of these contents seem to testify that Blender is not a magic DIY kit. You need--disputably--an equal amount of time and energy to master the principles and techniques involved with such projects as with any other 3D/VFX tools. If you have some  prior experience related to visual arts, though, it could be different, since you already are familiar with relevant principles and training. It seems that this week's winner have benefited from such prior training.

How, then, can you too qualify for this award? Please have in mind that this award is reserved for those that are on par with or that excel top notch works published by artists and studios. If such work does not appear during a given week, this award is not being given to anyone. So please submit your best work to www.blenderartist.org or to the Member's Gallery of this site, or Contact Us to show where your work is available on the internet. It doesn't have to be a Blender render, internal or Cycles. Any other render engine is fine as long as Blender was used as a part of your workflow.

So, it is with great pleasure that www.BlenderNews.org introduces to you  the winner of the Render of the Week Award for the week of  April 28, 2014: José Mario Pérez Cotes

Artist's Comment
About Me:
I am José Mario Pérez Cotes, a Multimedia Engineer graduated of Nueva Granada Military University, from Bogotá Colombia. Actually I do not consider myself as an artist, rather as a creator of multimedia content, the artists have much knowledge about colors, proportions, and things that I'm not good at. This kind of things are what I'm learning and reinforcing (in addition to with things related to programming and my English).

About "King Vulture"
The motivation for this project was to make something from nature that represents my country. Initially, I was going to make the condor of the Andes, but I found this one more interesting because he almost had the tricolor that represent Colombia's national flag (yellow, blue and red). You can observe how the original birds looks like at :
