Blender, apparently, is gaining ever-increasing popularity because of one simple fact: Talented artists never seem to regret adding Blender to their skill set. Some--like this week's
winner--have come to form a very strong opinion about Blender and its future. Check out his comments below to see why.

How, then, can you too qualify for this award? Please have in mind that this award is reserved for those that are on par with or that excel top-notch works published by artists and studios. If such work does not appear during a given week, this award is not being given to anyone. So please submit your best work to www.blenderartist.org or to the Member's Gallery of this site, or Contact Us to show where your work is available on the internet. It doesn't have to be a Blender render, internal or Cycles. Any other render engine is fine as long as Blender was used as a part of your workflow.

So, it is with great pleasure that www.BlenderNews.org introduces to you the winner of the Render of the Week Award for the week of December 17, 2018: Carlos Andrés Sosa.

Title: "Retired Unit"
Genre: VFX
Renderer: Cycles, Photoshop

Artist's Comments
About Me:
I’m a 3D artist from Quito, Ecuador. I’ve been working with Blender for the past nine years and I just love it. I love creating characters and especially robots and mecha. I’m the multimedia director and 3D instructor at the Metropolitan Institute of Design in Quito. I believe Blender is the future for 3D graphics, not only for its amazing functionality but also for its nature that it's an artist-based software.

About "Retired Unit:"
It's a photo-bash I did, using a character I designed in Blender and it was integrated with a photograph. My idea was to create the illusion of an old robot who has retired from service and found peace as a monk. The subject has been spinning my head for many time but I finally had the time to put all the work to make it happen. The photo was taken by the amazing Thailand photographer Sasin Tipchai. Check him out on pixabay as SASINT.
