Blender seems to be attracting many competent modelers coming from proprietary 3D packages--not necessarily due to any budget issues, as is evident in the comment from this week's winner.

How, then, can you too qualify for this award? Please have in mind that this award is reserved for those that are on par with or that excel top-notch works published by artists and studios. If such work does not appear during a given week, this award is not being given to anyone. So please submit your best work to www.blenderartist.org or to the Member's Gallery of this site, or Contact Us to show where your work is available on the internet. It doesn't have to be a Blender render, internal or Cycles. Any other render engine is fine as long as Blender was used as a part of your workflow.

So, it is with great pleasure that www.BlenderNews.org introduces to you the winner of the Render of the Week Award for the week of November 5, 2018: Bohdan Lvov.

Title: "Fire-Coughing Mechanical Graboid Ass Blaster (FCMGAB)"

Artist's Comments
About Me:
My name is Bohdan Lvov, I’m a 3D artist from Zaporizhia, Ukraine. Since the beginning of my timeline, I was interested in effects, trickery and all sorts of stuff; those making-of movies about VFX always mesmerized me, and that’s the reason why I’ve chosen CG as my career. And it actually started with Blender some really old version, about 2006 or 2007, but back then I were unable to get it and switched to 3ds max, after that to Maya, and only 10 years later, in 2017 - back to Blender, which this time became my main package. Just because it’s awesome. I don’t have a formal art education, and completely self-taught, because otherwise, it would be too easy, right?

About "
Fire-Coughing Mechanical Graboid Ass Blaster (FCMGAB)
:"
That’s an homage, as kids say these days, to the greatest monster movie of them all - Tremos 3. Actually, it’s an organic beast in the show. Actually, it was an exercise in hard surface modeling after Hard Surface Modeling In Blender course by Aidy Burrows & Gleb Alexandrov. But instead of a funny and cute robot, I got this mechanical abomination as a fan-art to a B-movie from the late 90s. It’s weird, ha?
Yes, it has a jet engine in its ass. Yes, it probably would be banned in many countries with camera angles like this if it would be a little bit anthropomorphic.
Oh, it also supposed to breathe fire, but because I also suck at simulation, it’s rather coughing with fire.
But it’s world’s first fire-coughing T-Rex/chicken robot thingy! So I present it to you.
