Good artists often know how to push their tools to the limits by their ingenuity. Check out how to the winner for this week successfully pulled off a massive current scene.

How, then, can you qualify for this award? Please remember that this award is reserved for those that are on par with or that excel top notch works published by artists and studios.  If such work does not appear during a given week, this award is not being given to anyone. Please submit your latest work to www.blenderartist.org or to the Member's Gallery of this site, or Contact Us to show where your work is available on the internet. It doesn't have to be a Blender render, internal or Cycles. Any other renderer is fine as long as Blender was used as a part of your workflow.

So, it is with great pleasure that www.BlenderNews.org introduces to you  the winner of the Render of the Week Award for the week of September 19, 2016: Guilherme Henrique

About "Barrel Riders:"
With the recent launch of Rock Essentials from Blender Guru, I thought that was the right time for a bigger project to showcase the product the way it deserves. With the whole creative control on my hands, I had the chance to work my own way on a subject that's of particular interest for me (and, possibly the only subject I ever do heheh). Heavily inspired by the Tolkien world and WETA work (as anything else I do), that's the kind of stuff I will be always happy to work with. All rocks found there came from the pack, so the bulk work of what could be a really long scene to create could be achieved in roughly two weeks, with most of the time being devoted to composition and the water setup. All the water and mist/foam are coming from the render, no fancy post-production here. The water splashes, mist, foam and waves are all alpha masked planes and shapes, with splash/foam samples taken from pictures or hand-painted.
