Are personal projects worth your time? Check out what the winner for this week discovered!
How, then, can you too qualify for this award? Please have in mind that this award is reserved for those that are on par with or that excel top notch works published by artists and studios. If such work does not appear during a given week, this award is not being given to anyone. So please submit your best work to www.blenderartist.org or to the Member's Gallery of this site, or Contact Us to show where your work is available on the internet. It doesn't have to be a Blender render, internal or Cycles. Any other render engine is fine as long as Blender was used as a part of your workflow.
So, it is with great pleasure that www.BlenderNews.org introduces to you the winner of the Render of the Week Award for the week of July 25, 2016: Mateusz Wielgus.

About Me:
My name is Mateusz Wielgus. I used to be an Architect from Poland but, now I’m working as CG Artist. At this point I run my own company called Black Chilla Design Studio and besides that I work for others as a freelancer. I've been using Blender for two years now.
About "Ambient Noir:"
Well, this scene was sort of a challenge. I wanted to see how fast I can model something and where is the line between speed and quality. I looked into some references (mainly “Blade Runner”) and started to create... so, there was no sketches or concepts just working in Blender. Everything was created in 40 hours plus render time. Primary I was planning on putting it to Unreal Engine but, finally I decided to render it in Cycles. This whole scene was a trial by fire for me - I’ve learned more during making it than during last 3 months work in CG.
As for the used textures - I’d love to give an insight into ‘em but, there was so many I wouldn’t know where to start. What I can tell is that, almost all of ‘em were taken from Poliigon website.
