This week's winner is a seasoned Art Director for AAA games industry. Check out his secret of how he pulled off--probably--one of the most "authentic" Star Wars concept art.

How, then, can you too qualify for this award? Please have in mind that this award is reserved for those that are on par with or that excel top-notch works published by artists and studios. If such work does not appear during a given week, this award is not being given to anyone. So please submit your best work to www.blenderartist.org or to the Member's Gallery of this site, or Contact Us to show where your work is available on the internet. It doesn't have to be a Blender render, internal or Cycles. Any other render engine is fine as long as Blender was used as a part of your workflow

So, it is with great pleasure that www.BlenderNews.org introduces to you the winner of the Render of the Week Award for the week of October 26, 2020: Rasmus Poulsen.

Artist's Comment
About Me:
I'm a Danish designer working as a Franchise Art Director in the AAA games industry. I studied Visual Communication and Production Design at the Royal Danish Academy of Fine Arts - School of Design, and have over 20 years of experience ranging from doing night club flyers, to being a studio Art Director overseeing several projects. In my spare time I like to practice my craft of concept art, especially in the area of speculative technical design.

About "Corellian Tanker:"
The Corellian Tanker is an exploration of an imagined sister ship design for the Millenium Falcon, a Corellian transport ship from the Star Wars franchise. I sampled some of the iconic design traits from the Falcon, such as a multi-window cockpit canopy, radar dish and defensive cannons, and applied them to a body shape that is almost inverted from the Falcon. Instead of mandibles, leaving a space in the middle of the front of the ship, I made a long central shell, which could contain a tank, making the ship suitable for the transportation of liquid materials. To the rear I made a squared off shape instead of the circular shape we know from the Falcon. And lastly rather than integrated engines aligned horizontally, I made external, rounded engines that align with the front shell, giving the ship a purposeful and strong center axis. I ensured that the cockpit area and the cannon compartment were connected with a long hallway, and one can imagine a lounge area in the center of the ship. And lastly I sprinkled all the greebles I could onto the design. Worn armour plating, and imagined tank-like "kit-bashing" elements. This, of course, to emulate the design and modelling process from the 1977 Star Wars Movie model making shop.
