Tentative nominees for the Render of
the Week Award are not being chosen by their impressive resume or some sort of
"proofs" of making a living out of CG. But rather, they are being
purely chosen based on their works and the poof of making them on their own and
their ability and availability to produce others works of equal quality when
requested by potential clients. Inevitably, artists with good industry profile
and experience are often being chosen for this award. But from time to time,
www.BlenderNews.org cannot help but be surprised by the quality of work that
are made by artists who might be looked down on as
"semi-professionals," but whose works are as equally impressive as
many other top notch renders made by "professional" artists.
Stylized 3D animation has been and
always will be an important part of the CG Industry. And it's about time that
www.BlenderNews.org recognized the top notch renders of that genre as well.
So, it is with great pleasure that www.BlenderNews.org introduces to you the winner
of the Render of the Week Award for the week of August 20, 2012: Joseph Cooke:
(
How, then, can you qualify for this award? Please remember that this award is reserved for those that are on par with or that excel top notch works published by artists and studios. If such work does not appear during a given week, this award is not being given to anyone. Please submit your latest work to www.blenderartist.org or to the Member's Gallery of this site, or Contact Us to show where your work is available on the internet. It doesn't have to be a Blender render, internal or Cycles. A Vray render or any other render is fine as long as Blender was used as a part of your workflow. ) Title:
"Sexy Character: Redux" Genre: Character Design
Renderer: Blender Internal

Artist's Comment About Me: I'm just a regular guy, born and raised
in Toronto, Ontario, Canada. I've
worked as a stage manager, a school bus driver, over-night delivery, and
freelance artist. For the past few
years I've been studying 3D and computer graphics with the ultimate goal of
telling stories for a living - I'm hoping Blender can help me achieve that
goal. About "Sexy Character:
Redux:" The secretary character is inspired by
a black & white photo from the 1960's of a beautiful woman, in a
sweater-&-skirt, standing at a typewriter. The other character is a
"proof of concept" exercise - I needed a subject for testing HDRI reflections on metal and plastic. Her
story is yet to be told. Related Links: 1.
