Apparently, more and more professional artists coming from other 3D tools are experimenting, studying, and using Blender for personal projects and are happy with the results.

How, then, can you too qualify for this award? Please have in mind that this award is reserved for those that are on par with or that excel top notch works published by artists and studios. If such work does not appear during a given week, this award is not being given to anyone. So please submit your best  work to www.blenderartist.org or to the Member's Gallery of this site, or Contact Us to show where your work is available on the internet. It doesn't have to be a Blender render, internal or Cycles. Any other render engine is fine as long as Blender was used as a part of your workflow.

So, it is with great pleasure that www.BlenderNews.org introduces to you the winner of the Render of the Week Award for the week of October 12, 2015: Lino Thomas.

Artist's Comment
About Me:
I'm a 24-year-old 3D artist living in Germany. I work as a professional 3D artist in the games industry and enjoy doing some computing-heavy rendering in my free time..

About "Sea Highway:"
The inspiration came from Simon Stalenhag, a pretty awesome concept artist from Sweden. Creating my own scene in the vibe of his art was a great project to try some new techniques, which were newly developed for the Cycles render engine in Blender.

Blender was used for modeling and Cycles for rendering this scene. To light the scene I used the "sky" environment from Cycles. A backdrop texture was placed behind the scene to give it some more depth. In earlier versions of the image I experimented with very dense fog which resulted in a flatter image than I expected. So I changed my approach and created a render with a very different setting. Post-processing was done in Blender and finalizing it in Lightroom and Gimp.
