One thing that definitely puts Blender apart from all other major 3D packages is the easily accessible quality tutorials that sometimes can put you on par with top-notch artists on certain aspects of the 3D trade. Check out how an artist relatively new to Blender was able to pull this stunning model.
How, then, can you too qualify for this award? Please have in mind that this award is reserved for those that are on par with or that excel top-notch works published by artists and studios. If such work does not appear during a given week, this award is not being given to anyone. So please submit your best work to www.blenderartist.org or to the Member's Gallery of this site, or Contact Us to show where your work is available on the internet. It doesn't have to be a Blender render, internal or Cycles. Any other render engine is fine as long as Blender was used as a part of your workflow

About Me:
Hi, I’m Gopal aka thegopes. I reside in the lovely Rocky mountains in Colorado at nearly 8000’ above sea level. I’ve been a photographer and 3D enthusiast for over a decade, but I’m relatively new to Blender. I was able to get up and running quickly thanks to the wonderful community and resources available online. Though I have plenty to learn still! About "Jellyfishing:"
I’ve always been fascinated by the strange shapes and otherworldly nature of underwater invertebrates like jellyfish. To expand my Blender skills, I thought it would be a fun challenge to try and tackle creating one in 3D. Being relatively new to Blender, I utilized tutorials from many seasoned pros in the community, most notably CG Cookie. For the final render, I turned to photographer, Alexander Semenov, for inspiration on color and lighting. His photos of underwater creatures, like jellyfish, had an ethereal quality I was after. For the final output, I did a bit compositing and color grading in Photoshop. Overall, I’m happy with how it turned out and I hope to try and make a physical print of it soon, too.
