Ever since the Render of the Year Award was first organized in 2014, it helped to identify potent artists and Blender's potentials. The candidates are the artists whose work(s) was(were) featured in the given year on www.blendernews.org. They range from hobbyists to art directors and sometimes young people who are still in high school!
How are these artists chosen? Here are some guidelines:
1. Their work should be good enough to be featured as a top notch work, something an employee or a client would like to have. (An young artist may produce "excellent" work considering his/her age, but it does not necessarily mean it's production ready.)2. Their work should not be a happy accident: the artist should display his/her competence to produce quality work consistently.3. Their work should not be a plain copy of other's concept art.4. The artists should be humble. Obvious arrogance would not help him/her to make a good co-worker nor a member of a team to work with.
The candidates have been featured in 4 different series: (1) Render of the Week, (2) Architectural Visualization in Blender, (3) Product Visualization in Blender, and (4) Blender Whiz.
So, it's a great pleasure to introduce the candidates for the Render of the Year 2016 as follows:
