Simplified or stylized 3D definitely has its place in the 3D industry. I helps viewers to concentrate on a main message designed either to amuse or educate, or entertain and etc.
Extreme realism reportedly can even become distracting to the viewers. Some viewers of Disney's new Lion King reportedly have complained that the ultra-realistic CG was distracting, preventing them from enjoying the story itself. It's no wonder that seasoned artists and art directors would try to find a balance between realism and stylization depending on the viewers they are targeting. It is to note, though, stylized 3D differs from poor modeling resulting from poor digital skills. This week's winners have demonstrated how a good stylized 3D is actually a deliberate simplification designed for viewers.

How, then, can you too qualify for this award? Please have in mind that this award is reserved for those that are on par with or that excel top-notch works published by artists and studios. If such work does not appear during a given week, this award is not being given to anyone. So please submit your best work to www.blenderartist.org or to the Member's Gallery of this site, or Contact Us to show where your work is available on the internet. It doesn't have to be a Blender render, internal or Cycles. Any other render engine is fine as long as Blender was used as a part of your workflow.
