About Fusion-vfx:
Fusion-VFX (fusion-vfx.com) is a 3D animation and graphic design studio in Tel-aviv,  Israel. Fusion-VFX was funded by me (Sagi Frenkel, 27) and by my partner (Elad Barness, 26) 5 years ago. Not so recently, we decided that it's time to make our pipe-line more efficient and transfer our projects to Blender or start creating new project from scratch in Blender. we realized that Blender and Blender development team are competently and unselfishly meeting the needs of 3D artists (unlike other 3D applications and its developers out there in the market.) After small "bumps" on the road to get used to how to work and think in Blender, Blender has become an essential tool in our pipe-line. Today we use Blender from start to finish

The Rocking Chair

Artist's Comment
About Me:
My name is Peter Doering. I am a German Mechatronics engineer and have lived in the USA since 1996.  My interest in Computer Graphics dates back at least 20 years and I have worked with Blender for almost 10 years. Being mostly used to CAD software (Solid Works etc.) the transition to "the edge loop" took a while to sink in.

About "the Rocking Chair:"
To challenge my modeling and texturing skills I was looking for a more "organic" challenge and came across this Rocking Chair when it was featured in the Pro Portfolio section of The Fine Woodworking magazine. I researched for a little while for good references and found that the artist had made a little documentary of how these chairs are made and I ordered one on DVD. The chair does not have many components and looks deceivingly simple. Once you start dealing with objects that interface with the human body, such as furniture and, in particular chairs, things tend to get a little more complicated.
When I was done, I got in contact with David Haig, the woodworking artist who makes these objects ( http://www.davidhaig.co.nz/ ) to get his opinion. He was very complementary and pointed out the one particular area that I knew at the outset was going to be a challenge ... but judge for yourselves. ;-)
