How long do you need to learn Blender to pull out a work like those of this week's winner? Check out his story and you may be in for a surprise.
How, then, can you too qualify for this award? Please have in mind that this award is reserved for those that are on par with or that excel top-notch works published by artists and studios. If such work does not appear during a given week, this award is not being given to anyone. So please submit your best work to www.blenderartist.org or to the Member's Gallery of this site, or Contact Us to show where your work is available on the internet. It doesn't have to be a Blender render, internal or Cycles. Any other render engine is fine as long as Blender was used as a part of your workflow.
So, it is with great pleasure that www.BlenderNews.org introduces to you the winner of the Render of the Week Award for the week of Week of February 10, 2020: Donald Çela.

About Me:
I’m Donald Çela (aka Unknown Dino) from Albania. I have studied architecture. By day i work as a graphic/web designer and video editor, by night I open blender and try to have some fun with it.
About "Treehead - Alien World:"
I have always been obsessed with wildlife, dinosaurs, sci-fi and fantasy, so decided to try and create my own creatures and worlds in Blender. Why Blender? I had been practicing for 1 year now and i have realized that i can basically achieve a lot with it without opening another software for almost the entire process.
The idea behind this project was pretty basic in my mind, a giant creature with a tree like growth on it’s head. Initially I started with few 2D sketches in photoshop and choose one of those as reference image in blender. Next step was 3D low poly modeling to get the shape right. After that i added details with multires and retopology. During the entire process i was learning from youtube tutorial and blender forums how i could achieve the needed results. Basically I’m not that good in blender, i just keep a lot of google tabs open with tutorials on the side while i pick and choose what i need to learn at the moment). In this project I learned a lot about sculpting, simulated rigs, particles, projected matte paintings, boids, and about Eevee’s ability to render impressively realistic visuals. I consider myself a little lucky since at the moment the project started getting complex, the new 2.81 release came out and i could easily manage complex scenes with the improved collections update.
In the end I’m not exaggerating when I say that I’m VERY surprised at what i was able to achieve with Blender and my next difficult task seems to be self control in deciding the complexity and scope of my future projects (i tend to thing too big whenever i open the software now and see all the tools available).
