An interesting phenomenon can be noted among Blender users. Non-3D Graphic professionals--such as art directors and designers--are adding Blender to their skill set with impressive results. The winner for this week is one of them:
How, then, can you too qualify for this award? Please have in mind that this award is reserved for those that are on par with or that excel top-notch works published by artists and studios. If such work does not appear during a given week, this award is not being given to anyone. So please submit your best work to www.blenderartist.org or to the Member's Gallery of this site, or Contact Us to show where your work is available on the internet. It doesn't have to be a Blender render, internal or Cycles. Any other render engine is fine as long as Blender was used as a part of your workflow.
So, it is with great pleasure that www.BlenderNews.org introduces to you the winner of the Render of the Week Award for the week of March 26, 2018: Oliver Maier.

About Me:
I'm Oliver Maier and I work as an art director in Switzerland and do mostly editorial stuff. - Off work, I feel a deep connection to polygons and love to use my spare time for pushing verts around. I'm sticking with Blender since version 2.49 and I'm really impressed with the development of this multifunctional software over the last years.
About "Orange to the Rescue!:"
I found this awesome concept by Andre Mealha, so I tried to reproduce it in Blender as a personal project. I used hard surface modeling for the base mesh and added some details in ZBrush. After modeling, I used Substance Painter to get the textures right. Materials, animation, motion blur, composition, and rendering were done in Blender (Cycles).
I made some changes to the original artwork, like the military aspect of it. I thought of the plane more like a reconnaissance aircraft for the coast guard in some kind, so I got rid of all the guns.
