Unlike many of the commercial 3D packages, Blender has come with an unparalled availability of quality tutorials free for all to access. As a result, an interesting development has taken place. Some young people—still in their high school—have already become capable of producing "studio-quality" renders. While contacting artists for product vidz, a representative of www.BlenderNews.org was shocked to find out that some of the artists were still in their high schools! B.N. reporter has succeeded to have an interview with one of them, Grzegorz Potaczek, an 18-year-old high school student in Poland.

When (at what age) did you start learning Blender?

I started to use it two years ago when I was 16.

How were you introduced to Blender?

My teacher tried to show us what we can do after this school. We had a lot of topics about programming, sounds, operating systems, websites and so on and then finally about 3D graphics. At that I "woke up" because that was interesting! I said to myself, 'Cool! I can make something like transformers or a simple game!'

How did you learn Blender?

At first, I started out with tutorials about making cars. As I followed through, I started to get the hang of it. Later on, I started to look for specific tutorials for certain things like this gun shot scene:

What tutorials did you find most helpful in learning Blender?

The most useful were those where it was said which buttons on the keyboard were actually pressed. It was very frustating when I couldn't follow certain move of a tutorial since it didn't tell which keys were pressed together.

What feature of Blender would you like to learn more?

I would like to learn more about making photorealistic renders, especially, of cars.

What is your future plan?

My immediate plan is graduating from my high school next year and in holidays I'm planning to make some amazing animation. And If I get to pursue a higher education, I would definitely pursue my study in Computer Graphics for sure.

Grzegorz is not the only one who have displayed an exceptional talent in Blender. Brett Rayner, a high school student in South Africa also impressed the BlenderNews representative with his "watch" model, after just "two months" of "serious" use of Blender.

What does this mean? With increasing number of newer generations equipped with an ability to bring out the best in Blender, Blender does seem to have a brighter future.
